For us, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We love peaceful mornings when we have time to eat and drink our morning coffee without hurry. Most mornings, however, we tend to get up too late and eat just a piece of bread or something quick. We wanted some variety for breakfast options and made this simple granola. This is a nice base recipe that you can easily adjust to your liking. We have plenty of other granola recipes as well, stay tuned!

Ingredients

6 dl oats

2 dl seeds

2 dl nuts

1 dl oil

½ dl honey

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp cardamom

1 dl dried fruit/berries

Instructions

  1. Crush the nuts and mix them in a bowl with the oats and seeds. Nuts you can use are for example cashew nuts, walnuts and almonds and seeds for example pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds.
  2. Mix the oil with honey and the spices in another bowl. If you are using solid honey instead of liquid honey carefully warm the mixture in a pan so it becomes liquid.
  3. Mix the oil-honey mixture with the dry ingredients. Spread the granola on a baking tray. Bake in 175°C oven for 20 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat to 150°C and roast for another 20 minutes
  5. Watch carefully so that the nuts don’t burn. The baking time might be different depending on the oven but the granola should be golden brown and crunchy when done. You can mix the granola a few times during it is baking.
  6. Add the dried fruit and berries to the granola. You can use whichever fruit or berries you like best like raisins, cranberries, goji berries, papaya, coconut, etc.  Enjoy ♥
